Posting a Teaching Assistant Internship for UC Davis Students

Who Are UC Davis Student Interns?
Interns are UC Davis undergraduate students who have an expressed interest in teaching, and many of them will become teachers. A few of the formal, structured programs that involve teaching-related internships or "field experiences" are listed below.
- Education Minor: The EDU minor includes a course called EDU100, "Introduction to Schools," which requires an internship. Students in EDU 100 may come from a variety of majors, and they must complete EDU 100 in order to fulfill the minor.
- Human Development Major: Declared Human Development majors can participate in a classroom internship for academic credit.
- CalTeach/MAST Program: This program is specifically for Math And Science Teachers (MAST). Associated courses are EDU/GEL 081, EDU/GEL 181, and EDU/GEL 183.
For students not involved in the programs listed above, the Internship and Career Center (ICC) provides ongoing, holistic support for any UC Davis students and recent alumni who seek teaching-related experience (including internships).
Additional Considerations
Time Commitment: An internship is at least one quarter (~8-10 weeks) but can be longer if you and the intern agree to this. Depending on the intern’s major or program requirements, internships are typically 30-60 hours (or more) of total service. Internships may be paid or unpaid.
Duties: Interns can work with children individually or in groups to support educational, fun, enriching, physical, therapeutic or recreational activities. They can also create lessons, activities, videos or other content/materials to support your classroom. We ask that you share your professional expertise and allow the intern to learn and grow in their professional abilities. We ask that you limit their routine tasks to a max of 20% of their time (such as photocopying, organizing files/books, etc.).
