Descriptions: The ASUCD Pantry is a student-run, student-directed campus food pantry under the Associated Students of UC Davis (ASUCD), serving up to 800 students daily through fresh produce, bread, non-perishable products, and basic necessities. We are located on the first floor of the Memorial Union, open 7 days a week.

INDIVIDUALS:
Volunteers will directly interact with and assist students as they visit, as well as work to maintain the Pantry space. We ask our quarterly-committed volunteers for a 1.5 or 3 hour/week. One-time sign-ups are also available on our website.

SUMMARY:
We have had 47,000+ visits in the 2018-2019 school year, and to operate, we have recruited, trained, and scheduled 120+ volunteers to staff the Pantry and now we are looking for Spring '20 volunteers to help expand our hours of operation.

Descriptions: The Centro Guadeloupe Advocacy Program is a multi-service agency that serves primarily Hispanic families, women, and children in such areas as emergency food and shelter, counseling, translation, information and referral, and employment.

Volunteers are needed to assist with the "Community Pals" youth project for 7th - 11th grades which targets students from high risk environments; make periodic contact in person and over the phone with students; and help plan and implement activities.

This is a program that allows creative input. Volunteers should have a good rapport with young people and be understanding of problems facing students from high risk environments. The ability to speak Spanish is desirable. Volunteers work closely with a project coordinator.

Descriptions: COALITION OF CONCERNED MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS (CCMP) is an all-volunteer effort, rooted in the community, founded in the Bay Area in 1976. CCMP is independent from government funding or any funding with strings attached. CCMP is structured as a free and voluntary unincorporated private membership association not as a 501(c)(3). CCMP's primary purpose is to overcome political and economic barriers that deny access to comprehensive medical care for any and all working people. This has included conducting campaigns to defeat laws or governmental policies detrimental to the interests of low-income workers.

CCMP takes an approach that incorporates medical care, ancillary health services, procurement of healthy foods for supplemental food distributions and joining with organizations of low-income workers whose members suffer lack of access to quality, affordable care. CCMP may choose to align with community groups to change conditions creating poor health, including environmental concerns.

CCMP urgently needs VOLUNTEERS: doctors, nurses, dentists, medical and dental specialists, physical therapists, dental hygienists, students and all those with a willingness to learn how to organize to fight the conditions which deny comprehensive medical care to workers and their families here in the Bay Area.

CCMP volunteer health care professionals donate preventive care to applicants screened for eligibility by CCMP benefit program volunteers. Many benefit recipients are members of self-help organizations of low-income workers.

Descriptions: The purpose of Davis Community Meals is to provide low-income and homeless individuals and families with housing, food, and human services to help them rebuild their lives. We have volunteer opportunities as follows:

Transitional Housing Program at H Street: Volunteers complete intakes on new clients, perform drug and alcohol testing, assign bed spaces, note activities and behaviors in the log, monitor chores and socialize with clients. Monday through Saturday 6pm to 9pm we are looking for volunteers to commit to a once a week shift with a minimum commitment of three months.

Resource Center: Volunteers interact with clients over the phone and/or in person and help with an assortment of tasks. Must be able to multi-task. Open Monday - Friday from 8am - 12pm. We are looking for volunteers to commit to 2 hours once a week with a minimum commitment of 25 hours. We ask that you keep to the same schedule each week.

Meals Help: Volunteers will help cook, set up, serve and clean up. Each Tuesday and Thursday is for individuals and Saturdays are for groups.

Administrative Assistant: Assist Executive Director and other administrative staff in data entry, clerical duties, donor tracking, and other related duties. Knowledge of MS Office products, particularly Excel, required.

Descriptions: Next Move (formerly Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center) is a profound force in moving homeless families and individuals to self-sufficiency and self-reliance. Started as a Family Shelter program in 1972 to meet the basic needs of seven homeless families, the agency now serves an average of 500 people each day. Position availabilities include:

Business Intern:
Interns will focus on programs aimed at asset building and/or microenterprise and microfinance. They will assist refugees, immigrants, and underserved Sacramento area residents in gaining financial independence and succeeding in a challenging economy. Candidates are expected to learn about community outreach, microfinance, and small business development and/or assets development. We are looking for individuals that can work independently, with excellent written and communication skills, and preferably bilingual.

Case Management Intern:
Interns work with Refugees or Survivors of Human Trafficking and gain casework skills as well as advocacy experience. Additionally, interns are exposed to the social welfare system and are taught how to manage client cases. Interns will also be exposed to numerous opportunities to strengthen language skills and further multi-cultural awareness. Applicants must be able to deal with confidential information, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and be preferably bilingual.

Communications Intern:
Interns in this position work closely with the Deputy Director to develop and maintain external organization communications. Interns will have the primary responsibility for maintaining the agency's website and social networking pages and gain first-hand experience working on crafting agency messages and delivering them through various avenues. We are looking for individuals with experience website development and Dreamweaver, and excellent attention to detail.

Grant Writing Intern:
Interns will play a key role in furthering the Opening Doors' development efforts. They will learn grant writing basics, research funding opportunities and work with staff to write grant proposals. Applicants will possess excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a willingness to learn the basics of grant writing.

Volunteer Management Intern:
Coordinator works with interns and volunteers who come from a wide range of backgrounds. Immigration Legal Services Intern:
Interns report to the Director of Immigration Legal Services and assist with case management and outreach. The ILS intern will also be responsible for managing the everyday operations of the ILS program and maintaining an understanding of program objectives and immigration services offered by Opening Doors. Descriptions: Phone Friends is a free community telephone "help-line" for latchkey kids sponsored by Sutter Community Hospitals and KXTV-Channel 10. Descriptions: The mission of Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services of Yolo County is to provide crisis prevention and intervention, education and community outreach services to the residents of Yolo County. Play a role in saving the lives of Yolo County residents. Join the dedicated volunteers who answer our phones as the first point of human contact in the steps toward mental health. Volunteers undergo a 36-hour training program in which they develop the skills needed to manage issues of depression, suicide, family relationship conflicts and mental illness. Initially, volunteers serve six hours per week and donate a one-year service commitment upon successful completion of the training program. Please join us. Your voice and your ear are more valuable than you can imagine. Volunteers have been, and continue to be the backbone of this agency. Quality training provides volunteers with the opportunity to participate in the increased well-being, not only of themselves, but of the community they live in.

Volunteer Opportunities
Direct Services: Programs working directly with clients we serve. A criminal background check and graduation from our Peer Counselor Training is required to begin volunteering in direct services. Direct services include; 24 hr. Support Line, Survivor Accompaniment Services, Safehouse Program, and others.

Indirect Services: Opportunities to support WEAVE without directly working with clients. Indirect services include: WEAVE Retail Stores, Special Events, and Tabling/Outreach.

Descriptions: This newly established program is administered by the Yolo County Sheriff's Office. The Yolo County Search and Rescue Team comprised of volunteers that provide assistance to the Yolo County Sheriff's Office in Search and Rescue operations and other support functions. The team is on-call 24 hours a day and is ready for both urban and wilderness searches in Yolo County. Response is based on availability of the members at the time of call out.

The un-paid members may receive training in various tactics and methods of search, rescue, human tracking, land navigation techniques, rope rescue, incident command system, search management, first aid and other support functions. The Yolo County Search and Rescue Team has a Board of Directors and meets regularly.
